I know, it's been awhile . . .

So it's been long overdue for a post. A couple of unrelated things.

  • I can't believe how the country is up in arms about Anna Nicole Smith. I think it's crazy! Was she really that much of an icon? I remember hearing about her death a couple of weeks ago, and it was breaking news on every channel!!
  • Pesach is coming up, time for Spring cleaning I guess. I'm not really looking forward to that, is anyone?
  • MAZEL TOV to my friend Shira Rosenfeld on her engagement to Andy Grylls!!

Have a great Shabbos!

Paradise

So this is paradise. We are in the Virgin Islands the whole week on our honeymoon. The weather is beautiful, I couldn't ask for anything else. (Except maybe Mama Leah's Pizza!!) Tonight, we're going to check out the Chabad here, that should be interesting. It's so nice taking a break from everything and just hanging out all day. No plans, nothing to do!!

So many things . . .

So this past few months have been tough. There have just been so many sad things happen within the Jewish community. In June, a child pedestrian is killed walking home from yeshiva. Just another day of school for him. That was actually his last day of school, but he didn't even know it. Very recently, a teenager has a fatal overdose and passes away the first day of success. Was he trying to escape reality? Was it just an accident? What was he thinking? Parents shouldn't have to bury their children. Someone I know, and is very close to my heart made a few bad decisions, and is now in a very scary situation. Why do all of these horrible things happen? How does one cope? How do you tell a 9 year old child their older brother is never coming back? How can someone make so many bad decisions? I really feel for all of these families involved in these horrible tragedies. May we only hear good things, and may we only share in simchas. Have a great shabbos.

Curves

Awhile back, Lanie discussed Curves, an all women's gym that is famous for their 30 minute workout, in her blog. I'm was so proud of her for finally canceling her membership. http://helanis.blogspot.com/2006/01/bob-is-man.html I've been a member on and off for the last two years. I've never really found it to be a fantastic gym.

Anyway, let's get to the point. I receive a one free week pass for a friend to check it out. So, one morning we go together, and the woman is really not on planet Earth. Apparently, my friend has to make an appointment since it's her first time. So it's really awkward. On top on that, she couldn't say my friends' name correctly, and she kept on trying to say it. She was making a fool out of herself. I stay to workout, and my friend leaves. Ok, so fine, we decide to try again. I make an appointment for my friend, and we go again. This time, they need to take a whole body analysis of my friend that takes about 20 minutes. It was so frustrating. I just wanted to show my friend what Curves was like, I didn't want a whole production.

This is what I don't understand. Don't they realize that this is not the best way to boost their membership? Who wants to deal with that when they are trying to check out or join a gym. Just wanted to share the craziness of Curves.

Have a great shabbos!

80's Trends

Whats the deal with 80's trends coming back to haunt us? Actaully, not everyone, because there are people that into that. The leggings, the spandex everything, the sports bras showing, the ripped sweatshirts, it's all pretty scary to me. Fashion does repeat itself, I do like some of 60's winter coats that are coming back into style. Also, most people (99.99%) of people should not be wearing spandex unless they are working out. It's not the most flattering piece of clothing. One store that is really gettting into this whole 80's trend is American Apparel. Check it out -----> http://www.americanapparelstore.com/ The 80's stuff is a little much for me, but it is solid color heaven. The CEO of American Apparel is Dov Charney. He's a jewish guy from California. They actaully just opened one in downtown Silver Spring, so I'll have to go check it out.

Fast Day Today

So today is a fast day, it's interesting how it's right after Rosh Hashana, which can be two days of intense overeating and overindulging. So you think, I'll need a break from food, right? I don't think so, it's still pretty rough. Next Monday is Yom Kippur, which is also a fast day. I guess you could call it a diet, that's what someone told me in shul. What are you having for break the fast tonite? Anything exciting?

You have a blog??!!

So, here it is. I've started a blog. A new year, why not? Not really sure where the blog is going to lead, or exactly what I'll be discussing, but I thought I'd give it a try. Hope everyone had a lovely Rosh Hashana. L'Shana Tova!
